Resting Metabolic Rate
Find out how many calories you need to eat to lose fat, increase lean mass, or to maintain weight. An RMR assessment will determine the speed and function of your metabolism. Nutrition is the most important factor for safe, sustainable and achievable fat loss. You must be fasted 6-hours prior. Please read Prep Instructions under FAQ below.
RMR FAQs
A RMR is a gas chamber analysis that measures expired O2 and CO2 to determine your metabolic rate.
A RMR will determine your metabolic speed, which represents the amount of calories your body burns at rest in a 24-hour period. This test will also determine the percentage of dietary carbohydrates used at rest versus the percentage of dietary fats used at rest.
Prep instructions are emailed prior to your appointment and below.
- Avoid eating or drinking (except water) for a minimum of 6 hours before the test.
- Avoid exercising on the day of testing.
- Avoid the use of stimulants such as caffeine prior to testing.
- Wear comfortable clothing as you will be reclined and in a relaxed state.
- Optimal testing time is in the morning.
Your appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes. Your RMR will take 15 minutes.
You will be in a seated or reclined position and hold as still as possible (“at rest”) for the duration of the RMR. You will breathe into a tube and have your nose clamped. New breathing tubes are used for each client and disposed of after use.
